Over The Threshold: The Story 

Our honeymoon was a driving adventure. From Sydney (NSW) to the Barossa (SA) via the Yarra (VIC) and the Great Ocean Road. Back in the days when fuel was less than 120c per liter, it was a simpler time 🙂.

Newlyweds with a new life to create together and a mutual love of old things, we stopped at every antique shop we could find, and boy could we find a lot! We loved it. Searching out the hidden treasures, imagining how this might fit in our imaginary future home and life. The smell of aged timber and books, the people, the hilarious abundance of bedpans. We came home with a car full of wine and antiques, including the desk I sit at to write this, all in our car!

This business was once called Prop Garage, starting as a prop hire business, hiring a beautiful collection of old things for productions, photo shoots, and events, people love hiring old stuff just as much as we like buying it!

When I was 19 years old I cut my events management teeth on community events and weddings, I loved it! Somewhere in life, I forgot how much I loved it. So in 2022 we Mary Kondo-ed our work life, we decided in a post-pandemic world we should be spending our time on the things that spark joy, and I dove back into weddings wholeheartedly!

The time came for us to wave farewell to the Prop Garage brand. It served us well and brought us to where we are and who we are today, but doesn’t represent who we are now and where we are going.

So the OTTaways introduced the world to….
